In 2013 I broke away from a SupportWorks Dealer (back then, they were known as Foundation SupportWorks, or FSI) because I believed that the business of foundation repair was starting to sound like buying a used car. The adage “If you sign now, I’ll knock 5% off…” seemed too salesy and the homeowner’s needs were not the priority. So I left…

I knew I could take care of the customer AND grow a successful business at the same time. That’s why, in 2013, I started BASEco, and immediately we established our CORE FOCUS of “Just Take Care of People!” Over the past 10 years, this CORE FOCUS has proven extremely successful. We started in a small 15′ x 30′ storage unit, with an old Union Pacific truck that we bought at auction.

I quickly learned, starting a foundation repair business is extremely expensive and scary if you don’t have the support, especially in the beginning. Who on earth is going to hold your hand in the early days of starting your foundation repair business? Who is going to be there when you install your first push pier or lift your first house? Also, what happens if you screw it up? After a few early bids, we finally landed our first foundation repair job. We saved up enough money to buy the equipment needed and material that was to be installed.
